The work being done at Birch Bay Ranch can be compared to that of organizations such as World Vision. The
scale may be smaller, but the task is no less important as it affects
the lives of children and families in our own part of the world. As
our society becomes more and more secular , the opportunities for our
children ( or anyone else ) to be exposed to Christianity are
becoming few and far between.
Since my daughter became involved with Birch Bay Ranch last summer, I have been overwhelmed by the number of people who have not only heard of the camp , but have sent their children there over the years and continue to do so. These
are people who never go to church and are not even necessarily
Christians, but have heard such good things about BBR that they happily send their children.
What an opportunity!
To
be able to draw all of these children into the arms of Jesus by the
loving, teaching, worshiping and fun that is evident at Birch Bay Ranch 24/7.
In our own family, BBR has been a great unexpected Blessing. My
daughter was having difficulty finding a direction for her life when a
friend of hers suggested she volunteer at BBR last summer. He had been a leader at the camp the previous year and thought she might like it.
She
has suffered from anxiety since the age of 7 and had always wanted to
go to camp, but could not stay away from home overnight.
What a life changing experience!
She has been thriving at BBR! First as a volunteer leader last summer , then fall staff, spring staff, summer leader again this year and now fall staff again. She has been able to utilize all of her skills - acting, writing, singing, improv., leadership and caring for children. Most importantly, she has grown spiritually and now has a strong faith of her own that is able to share with others.
Without BBR I am not sure of the life she would be leading now , but I know it would not have been so grounded faith. I am so happy for her and proud of all she is accomplishing because of Birch Bay Ranch!
I was fortunate enough this summer to be able to use one week of my vacation from work to help out in the kitchen at BBR. I was able to witness first hand the awesome work that is done all day everyday by all of those involved in the BBR ministry. The
love of God and presence of Jesus is felt in all activities and
gatherings - the children attending the camp cannot help but feel that embrace throughout their stay. It's no wonder so many come back again and again!
I pray that the ministry at BBR will continue long into the future. I would like to still be volunteering when my grandchildren and great grandchildren attend camp!
:)
Sincerely,
Lesli Anderson
