Our first visit to it was to attend the wedding of a close friend who worked there. Having heard much about the ranch for several years prior, it was about time to check it out. We were impressed with the staff and the ranch itself.
Several years later we were in a transitional phase in our lives. We needed a temporary home and wanted to be involved in ministry while we awaited further direction. Birch Bay kindly opened its parking lot (and a whole lot more) to us and our family of four boys; we spent the summer in our bus there. The Directors and their staff were (are) fantastic, we were able to be involved in serving and the various activities that ensued; we felt most welcomed. If we had been able to get housing there, we were considering staying on. We have returned for visits a couple of times over the years and always received a very warm welcome and spiritual encouragement. Birch Bay is like a home away from home.
Over the past few years we have watched while they set goals for their facility and attained them- new washrooms, more activities, riding arena, shop, etc. Many people have donated much time and effort to contribute to the improvements at BBR and I can't even begin to touch the impact it has had on myriads of people in regards to their walk with God.
We don't even want to consider the idea that such an amazing facility as BBR may have to shut down and be torn from its ministry. All those God-given talents, achievements and potential, gone...the loss would be widespread.
The fact is that the original donors had a vision which Birch Bay fulfills very well. The very motto, "Birch Bay Ranch exists to provide a natural & nurturing environment where people encounter God & experience positive life change" We feel it is important to honor the wishes and vision of the original donors.
We hope & pray that as those in charge of this decision pray and sort through the details they will consider the incredible, Godly outreach they have through the Ranch and continue to support it as they have in the past.
Sincerely,
Howard & Nicky Moody
