I know this ministry has touched my life in a huge way. I first volunteered at BBR back in 2007, all the way to 2012. Being there in that first week, and coming up all the way from Minnesota, I was quite nervous. I didn't know what to expect. but I can remember to this day when the satff would have the morning devotion in the Cedar Lodge, there was one morning where Daryll Was speaking. He mentioned that there a few of us that this is our first time here and we we're scared and wondering what we're doing here. He then came back with this answer, this is where God wants you to be at this time. From that moment on I knew everything was gonna be ok.
I'd never done anything like this before in my life. Being a guy in my 30's, at this time, and working with kids back home and figured it will be fun. And it was. To be able to be Cabin leader or assistant and be part of the kids/teens life for the short time they were there was fulfilling to me. The best parts were during WAG in the evening before going to bed. To be able to talk about Christ with the kids and even to those who never heard of Him, for them to hear it for the first time, to answer questions to the best of my ability. I can recall at least 3-4 instances where campers in the Cabin I was a part of accepted Christ. That was always a highlight for the week/summer.
And I've seen these same campers come back year after year and how they've grown in their faith and have changed inwardly and outwardly. All because they have the opportunity to camp to camp for a week in the summer and experience God's love in a real way. By Him using us staff to reach the campers and accepting them as they are not matter what their walk in life looks like. They are looking for something real and BBR gives them that opportunity to do so.
And to see the commitment of the leadership and those that are on site staff there. Even if one person accepts Christ during the whole summer. It is worth it. I can personally say that I am blessed to have these people as a part my life. And how they and the ministry have impacted my life and it has been for the better. As well as the numerous friends I have made while being there and even calling some of them family. And also be the token American.
To have this ministry continue is to fulfill it's calling. Just as the church or any ministry. And that is to seek and save the lost. And at BBR they come to them and we the staff are honored to have that chance in a short time to present them the gospel of Jesus and that He accepts them the way they are.
"I Have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" John 10:10
Let us continue to bring that Life, and Love, to all who come thru the gates of Birch Bay Ranch. God's Ranch
